Skopje climate assembly final report

A report presenting the work and recommendations of the Skopje Climate Assembly, the first citzens' assembly to take place in North Macedonia.

Included in this report is background information on the commissioning and mandate of the assembly, the recruitment and sortition process for participant selection, and an overview of the methods used throughout the assembly's implementation. The report is divided into four parts, corresponding to the four phases of the assembly process:

  • The first section is an introduction to the Skopje Climate Assembly, including its remit, recruitment of participants, composition of the Assembly, and an introduction to the participants.

  • The second section contains the list of final recommendations written by the assembly participants. The recommendations are divided into three pillars (chosen by participants as the most crucial aspects associated with reducing air pollution in Skopje): energy, transportation, and public health. Each pillar contains several recommendations that were voted on by participants.

  • The third section includes statements from the organizing team, including the Executive Director of ZIP Institute (the organization commissioning the Assembly) and a member of the Climate Assembly Advisory Board.

  • The fourth section outlines the structure of the process for carrying out the assembly.
