Citizen sensing: A toolkit

A toolkit providing best practices and guidance on citizen sensing, a participatory approach to data collection and community-led action.

The resource presents a framework for citizen sensing — a form of bottom-up citizen participation in environmental monitoring and action — consisting of eight steps: scoping, community building, planning, sensing, awareness, action, reflection and legacy. For each step, it provides a number of practical tools. It also documents nine citizen sensing campaigns in the Netherlands, Kosovo and Spain which ran between 2016 and 2017 as part of the Making Sense project.
